The second phase, located on the corner of N. California Blvd. and Ygnacio Valley Road will contain 238 units and approximately 12,000 square feet of retail space and will be completed following the first phase.

Retail

RETAIL

With a dense concentration of premier eateries and lifestyle amenities, Walnut Creek has long been established as the East Bay’s premier retail destination.  Anchored by Broadway Plaza, the City’s downtown provides a unique walkable retail-centric environment creating a vibrant urban center which attracts patrons from throughout the Bay Area. National stores such as Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom mix with locally owned businesses. Walnut Creek has continued to expand its significant retail, culture, and nightlife options to include Neiman Marcus, Apple, Tiffany & Company, Tesla, and Whole Foods, among many others.

Commuter Connectivity

OUTSTANDING COMMUTER

CONNECTIVITY TO THE ENTIRE BAY AREA

Walnut Creek Transit Village is located directly on the Walnut Creek Bay Area Rapid Transit (“BART”) Station, fronting I-680 at the intersection of Ygnacio Valley Road and N. California Boulevard. The Project’s proximity to BART, the Bay Area’s premier public transportation system, as well as I-680 and CA-24, two of the most heavily traveled transportation routes in the East Bay, will offer residents outstanding commuter access to the entire Bay Area and its major employers. The Iron Horse Regional Trail, connecting the cities of Concord and Dublin, can be accessed 0.7 miles from the Project. Covering 55 miles, the Iron Horse Regional Trail is designated for pedestrians, bicyclists and horseback riders. Just a 15-minute walk from the Project, the multi-use, whole-access trail allows residents a path to walk or bike on a safe, automobile-free thoroughfare.

Location

WALNUT CREEK

With a 90+ Walk Score, Downtown Walnut Creek has established itself as a model of urban redevelopment in Northern California and as the retail, entertainment and employment capital of the East Bay. Located in the hub of Contra Costa County, Walnut Creek is the ultimate community with fine dining, shopping, arts and entertainment. Drawing on its central location at the intersection of BART, CA-24, and I-680, as well as its neighboring cities Lafayette, Danville, and San Ramon, Walnut Creek ranked 11th on Livability’s 2016 list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S., scoring high for its amenities, education options and health care. The City enjoys attractive public spaces, and plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation in its sixteen parks and amazing 3,000-plus acres of open, undeveloped space dedicated to wildlife preservation, outdoor activities such as hiking and camping, and programs that range from historical tours to “Frog Fanatics.” The City’s much-admired, eclectic restaurant scene landed it on Livability’s 10 Best Foodie Cities list, which noted a dining community that favors locally owned establishments over chains. Walnut Creek’s range of vibrant dining options continues to expand with several restaurants highly rated by the Zagat Guide and Wine Spectator, including national upscale outlets as well as local boutique favorites. Already host to several restaurants rated 4.5 or better on the new Zagat Guide rating scale, including the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence winning Prima Ristorante and newcomer Rooftop featuring former Iron Chef competitor and Slanted Door alumnus, Justine Kelly Walnut Creek’s dining scene continues to flourish.

CONSTRUCTION

Construction

The next phase of construction is underway on the Walnut Creek Transit Village on the former BART parking lot facing Pringle Ave. The Project is a privately-owned development comprised of 358 apartment units, approximately 15,000 square feet of retail space and on-site underground parking for residents, guests and retail uses. The fenced-off parking area on N. California Blvd. is being used for construction offices and material storage.  The construction of this project and the associated road and utility work on Pringle Ave. and Riviera Ave. is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2022.

During this phase of project construction, access to the station, parking garages and bus intermodal will not be modified and the existing pedestrian access from the corner of N. California Blvd. and Ygnacio Valley Road to the station will remain open. Minor pedestrian path adjustments will be made to ensure pedestrian safety.  There will be no interruption in BART service.  To ensure the safety of the public, work crews and BART staff, please be mindful of traffic control persons, signage and fencing securing construction areas.
